A444 Wheat Street
A fourth arm will be opened up onto the existing three arm signalized junction between Wheat Street and Vicarage Street. The fourth arm is to be a one way for vehicles, allowing an exit only onto the ring road.
Justice Walk will remain one way for vehicles, with a contra-flow cycle lane being installed along it. The wider area is to be improved as part of the Transforming Nuneaton construction programme. The western end of Wheat Street will become two way to allow for vehicles moving from the Leicester Road area and will eventually form a link to the new Leicester Road roundabout scheme.
New toucan crossings are to be installed to help pedestrian and cycle movements across the improved junction.
A new segregated cycle route will be provided alongside the inner lane of the ring road which will allow cyclists to move more easily through the area.
In order to facilitate the main works, there will be some changes to the junction at Bond Street/Back Street/Newtown Road, which will help to ease vehicle movements through the area and will provide a temporary link prior to the new roundabout being installed.
