Abbey Gardens cycleway
A cycleway will be provided through the park to loosely follow Corporation Street. This will allow cyclists to bypass any queuing traffic to access the shared footway/cycleway that travels around the ring road.
Additional trees will be planted to create an ‘avenue’ feel to the cycleway, which will also serve to improve biodiversity in the park.
A cycle link will be installed across the footway from Corporation Street into Friary Street with the aim of improving permeability for cyclists in the area.
In November 2023 the decision was taken for the Abbey Green Cycleway scheme not to be delivered at this time and held in abeyance until such a time a whole corridor link can be provided from the north-west of the town centre.
