I want to appeal
How do I appeal?
If you are unhappy with a decision and wish to appeal:
- Please write to us (via email or post) explaining why you feel you meet the criteria.
- Please provide additional medical evidence in relation to your condition/conditions and how they affect you.
- If your condition has significantly deteriorated since you applied for the Blue Badge, please describe how the changes affect your walking.
- You have the right to appeal up to 28 days after the decision date.
- If you exceed the 28 days, you can reapply, and you will be treated as a new applicant.
How does the appeals process work?
- The appeals process aims to be as fair and objective as possible.
- Your appeal will be assessed by a different expert assessor.
- The assessor may telephone you if needed. This can be to ask a few specific questions or to complete a full telephone assessment. A telephone assessment will take approximately 10 minutes.
- If you have a physical health condition you will usually be invited to attend a face-to-face assessment.
- If you have a physical health condition you may also be requested to provide video evidence. This is usually in cases where people are unable to attend a face-to-face assessment. You will receive guidance on how to do this if required.
