Road closures
A major event of this scale does mean there will be some disruption to ensure that the race is safe for riders and spectators. There will be rolling road closures on most of the 77 mile route, with fixed road closures limited to the start/finish area. There will also be some parking restrictions in place. All the details are below, but please note that these are subject to change as we get closer to the day.
For the approximate times of the rolling road closures, where roads will be closed for a short period as the race passes by (typically 15 mins either side of the riders), please see the detailed breakdown of route timings and locations (PDF, 128KB).
Burton Dassett Hills Country Park
There will a one-way system at Burton Dassett Hills between 1pm and 3pm as the riders pass through and complete the Queen of the Mountain challenge. Vehicles entering the site will need to do so from the roundabout by the Ministry of Defence base in Kineton at the bottom of the hill off B4100 and exit through the other end of the park, heading towards Fenny Compton and Avon Dassett. There will be signage showing where vehicles can rejoin the B4100.
Update: 19 August
Please note that we have amended the timings for no parking on several streets in Leamington from 6pm on Saturday to midnight, to better support the evening economy. Any vehicles left in restricted areas past 4am Sunday morning may be towed to a nearby location for safety reasons. There will be no charge to vehicle owners for this.
The reason for this is that the international cycling body, UCI, has strict safety rules to protect the athletes and the public, as racers can be travelling at speeds on the sprint finish upwards of 60 km/h.
Towed Vehicles
If your vehicle has been moved, it may have been relocated to one of the following locations:
- Vehicles moved from Newbold Terrace, Newbold Street or Hamilton Terrace will normally be relocated to Euston Place, and if capacity is reached, to Newbold Comyn Car Park.
- Vehicles moved from Leam Terrace will normally be relocated to another safe location on Leam Terrace within sight of the original location. If this is not possible, they may be relocated to Newbold Comyn Car Park.
