Leamington Spa
There will be plenty of cycling and other fun activities taking place in Leamington Spa on the day of the race. The route will start from Newbold Terrace, but the Pump Room Gardens will be the main tour village, hosting sports and cycling activities for the whole family, food and drink, community stalls and bike-themed entertainment. Visitors can try the cycle track, climbing wall and pedal-powered games, enjoy BMX stunt displays and arts and crafts activities, and meet local cycling clubs and community organisations. Alongside the winner’s podium, it will also have a large screen so you can watch the race as it travels through Warwickshire.
Along the route
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of watching the Tour of Britain up close, and we’d love to see you along the route. The riders pass by very quickly, so to help everyone enjoy the day safely, here’s a few things to note:
- There will be an advance vehicle 15 minutes ahead of the race, keeping you updated with what is happening, including when you can expect the race to pass through.
- The race itself is escorted along the route by trained police officers and escort motorcyclists. If you’re asked to stop by an officer, please listen carefully and obey their instructions.
- Stay back away from the edge of the road and remember that turning your back on the race is never a good idea – please always face the ongoing riders and race convoy.
- Keep flags, objects and photography equipment out of the road, and any animals on a short lead, well away from the roadside.
Road closures and parking restrictions
A major event of this scale does mean there will be some disruption to ensure that the race is safe for riders and spectators. There will be rolling road closures on most of the 140-mile route, with fixed road closures limited to the start/finish area. There will also be some parking restrictions in place. We’ll share more information on these here when we can.
