S278 The ASPS – Leamington Spa / Banbury Road Widening
An update on progress with the S278 Highway Improvement Works at the A425 Banbury Road in connection with Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes development known as ‘The ASPS.’
The works have progressed well and, our contractor Fitzgerald Contractors Ltd. are currently on programme to complete construction works in the winter.
There will shortly be a brief period involving overnight road closures of the A425 Banbury Road, from the junction with Greys Mallory roundabout to Barford Road. During the overnight closures of A425 Banbury Road, closure points will be set up near the junction with Greys Mallory roundabout, at the junction with Barford Road and at the entrance (Brooklime Road) to ‘The ASPS’ development. There will be times during the overnight closures when vehicular access / egress from ‘The ASPS’ development will be restricted. Traffic marshals will be stationed at all three closure points, to manage vehicular access through the works area. These traffic marshals will be on hand to communicate with any residents wishing to enter and exit the closure. Residents requiring access to their properties can drive up to the closure point and inform the traffic marshal where they live, following which the barriers will be opened to allow a vehicle into the road closure area. Traffic marshals will guide vehicles safely through the works until the resident exit the works.
Please note, there will be certain times when vehicular access to properties at ‘The ASPS’ development is not possible for a brief period, such times include:
- When the carriageway is being planed out to a depth of 40mm;
- When new Binder Course has been laid and while material is cooling; and
- When new Surface Course has been laid and while material is cooling.
Banbury Road will be closed to traffic from Monday 1 December to Saturday 6 December 2025, 8pm to 6am. The diversion route for the works is a route that would accommodate traffic volumes once destined to travel along the A425 and will be sign posted.
