Hardcore, rubble, soil and plasterboard

Small amounts of hardcore, rubble, soil and plasterboard can be deposited for free at recycling centres by members of the public.

Householders may deposit the equivalent of up to 6 x 25 kg bags of hardcore, rubble, soil or plasterboard per visit, up to four times every four weeks or one piece of plasterboard no larger than 2000mm x 750mm x 700mm in size, up to four times every four weeks.

Materials over these limits are chargeable and all commercial waste is chargeable (see our commercial waste page).

Plasterboard must be kept separate from all other waste types, therefore please ask an advisor where to deposit this material.

All other material attached to plasterboard such as insulation, tiles and bricks must be removed from the plasterboard before visiting site. This is because the plasterboard recyclers will not accept any non plasterboard material and it is not permitted in landfill.

Please note that not all waste types are accepted at all recycling centres so please use the Recycle Now Recycling Locator to check which recycling centre you can take your items to.

Alternatively householders can make their own arrangement for the disposal of large quantities of hardcore, rubble and soil for example by using bulk bag services or skip hire.
