The aim of the scheme is to:  

  • Improve connectivity and enhance the experience for pedestrians, cyclists and business users accessing the St Johns area and wider town centre, including provision of cycle parking.
  • Improve the attractiveness of the location as a key gateway to the town, material enhancements outside the retail/commercial area while preserving as many parking bays as possible.
  • Upgrade the existing traffic signal junction and provide essential maintenance to the carriageway on all arms, particularly to Coventry Road and St Johns.

Key programme information

St Johns, Warwick, Remaining works

As you will have seen, the construction teams have been working hard to move towards completion of all the work at St Johns.

The reinstatement of the temporary traffic lights at the main junction, works within the carriageway on Coten End and the footway on Priory Road, are by utilities and are not part of the St Johns scheme. Unless listed below, any works in the surrounding area are not part of the St. Johns Junction Improvement programme.

St Johns remaining works to finish the programme as follows:

  • W/C Monday 20 July  
    • Monday 20 July Install of raised crossings. There will be some disruption on the service road but access will be maintained from each end.
    • Thursday 23/24 Lay multi coloured tarmac in the central area and the footway along Coventry Road from the Paddocks to the traffic lights and Friday of that week. There will be minimal disruption to service road access, but some parking spaces may be used for equipment and machinery.
  • W/C Monday 27 July
    • Benches, planters and bins will be placed to dress the area.
    • There will be small amount of snagging work across the site, we will update the website in advance of these works.

We and the contractors will continue to keep you and the website updated.

We are also hoping to plan a celebration event to launch the scheme once it is finished and open.
