Case studies

Grayson Place

As part of WCC’s partnership with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and the Transforming Nuneaton programme, the Grayson Place development looks to grow the leisure offer with new cafés, restaurants, public spaces and community services. This revitalisation of an important town centre location will offer a unique experience for residents and visitors to Nuneaton. Development is well underway with structural work recently completed on the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in October 2023, ahead of the planned summer 2024 opening.

Bar Pool North and Crescents Pilot

This is another of the Ground Breaker pilots is taking place in West Nuneaton. The proposal is in partnership with local social enterprise, Saints Nuneaton to create a community hub and facility for community outreach. Looking to launch in 2024, this development will provide a space for community groups, activities and initiatives.

Health Equity Partnership Programme

To tackle high levels of childhood obesity and deprivation in Nuneaton central, WCC’s Public Health team have worked in partnership with Change Makers and Coventry University to make recommendations to promote accessibility and understanding around childhood obesity. Parents of pupils at three Nuneaton schools were engaged with and Middlemarch Junior School took up funding to support a range of healthy lifestyle initiatives for pupils and staff. A further eight primary schools have expressed interest in a £10k fund to support healthy lifestyle initiatives, and funding is set to be released in January 2024.
