Countywide Priorities

Increasing Social Mobility

Increasing social mobility by ensuring success is less dependent on where you live, your background and who your parents are.

‘You Can’ Online - Across Warwickshire Libraries, this initiative provides digital devices, connectivity and IT support to help #FixTheDigitalDivide. The initiative will support a reduction in the negative real-life impacts of the digital exclusion of missing job opportunities, failing to develop career skills and lack confidence in shopping and banking online.

The Immersive and Creative Technologies Launchpad - The launchpad jointly developed by WCC, Coventry City Council and Innovate UK works to develop innovation clusters with significant potential for growth and to deliver jobs and higher productivity. Across the county, projects interested must focus on immersive and creative industries to contribute to the development and application of technologies. The Launchpad will provide the opportunity for applicants with access to grants, expertise, research facilities and a programme of cluster development activities.

Warwickshire Libraries Green Futures - With the National Portfolio Organisation programme across Warwickshire Libraries, a Creative Practitioner working in the early months of 2024, will work across Nuneaton, Bedworth and the North of the county to deliver creative activities across all ages and create a collective artistic output with climate partners. These activities will be supporting and educating on the theme of our environmental responsibility and the climate crisis. Work will be shared through The Green Futures Tour including across Warwickshire.

Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Broadband Project - As part of the pledge to improve broadband connectivity across the county, in partnership with neighbouring authorities, ‘Contract 3’ will ensure 15,000 properties in the region will soon have superfast broadband by the end of December 2023. Through protected investment of £2 million by the European Regional Fund, the project will incorporate a minimum of 400 small and medium enterprises, boosting productivity and allowing them to compete in the ever-growing global marketplace, as well as safeguard and increase employment in these key areas. Greater social inclusion will be given to residents who will find it easier to access financial services, education, job opportunities and other services.
