How can VI sensory needs be supported by Quality First Teaching?

Assessment Identification and Monitoring

Teachers to consider the following:

Are parents with any concerns regarding their child’s vision advised to take the young person for an eye test at any high street optician?
Is recent assessment information used to gain a better understanding of the young person’s visual needs and to identify whether they are a barrier to their learning in the classroom?
Are the implications of the young person’s visual impairment, as well as any treatments that the young person has received, included in their One page profile?
Are any changes in vision recognised and is further advice gained when appropriate?  
Are young people involved in the development and evaluation of any sensory support strategies in class?
