How can VI be supported through further cycles of assess, plan, do, review?

Identification

  • The young person has mild vision loss -6/12-6/18 Snellen (LogMAR 0.3-0.48) 
  • The young person had moderate vision loss - 6/18 – 6/36 Snellen (LogMAR 0.5 – 0.78) 
  • The young person may be registered with a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI) as sight impaired 
  • The young person has impaired function in the educational setting and this is generally accepted to be the key criterion. While it is difficult to categorise  young people they may include those with: 
    • Restricted fields. 
    • Fluctuating vision e.g. nystagmus. 
    • Deteriorating / degenerative condition.
