There are six selective grammar schools in Warwickshire, all of whom allocate their places based on the results achieved in the 11+ test. These schools are free to attend and there is no cost for a child to sit the 11+ test.

The six grammar schools in Warwickshire are:

*Rugby High School is a girls’ grammar school. Do not confuse with Rugby School, which is a fee-paying school in the private sector.

** Ashlawn School is a bi-lateral school which operates one selective class who follow a slightly different curriculum in Years 7 and 8.

How are places at grammar schools allocated?

Each grammar school has their own admission arrangements for each entry year, which can be found on their websites. These will tell you how they allocated places at their school. Usually, higher priority is given to those children who achieve the highest scores in the 11+ test and who live within the priority area (i.e., the catchment area) for the school.

Before you submit your application, we advise that you carefully read through these arrangements for each school that you are considering.

Residency requirements

Warwickshire’s grammar schools have their own, specific residency requirements in addition to the basic proof of address usually required.

If you have applied for at least one Warwickshire grammar school, you will be contacted by the Admissions team at the beginning of December to request proof of your address. This will either be posted or emailed to you, so please check your junk or spam folders. If you have not heard from us by 9 December, then please email elevenplus@warwickshire.gov.uk as soon as possible.

We need to receive the requested proof by 31 December. We accept PDF copies and photographs of documents, as long as they are clear and readable. They should be sent via email to admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk.

Failure to comply with these residency requirements will mean that your application for any Warwickshire grammar school(s) will be classed as late.
