How do foodbanks work?
The majority of foodbanks use a voucher referral system so that you can receive the right kind of help for you and your family. Please check your local foodbank to see whether a referral voucher is required.
It is important to be aware that foodbanks are charitable organisations and rely on donations. They do not receive any government or local authority funding.
What does a food parcel contain?
Food parcels contain enough food for at least three days of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families. You can find out more about what food is included in a food parcel on the link below.
Foodbanks also try to provide essential non-food items such as toiletries and hygiene products, when they can.

Donate to your local foodbank
Foodbanks rely on your generosity and goodwill and welcome donations of food and essential non-food items. Over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks is donated by the public, so your donation is absolutely vital.
Contact your local foodbank to see what they need and find out the best way for you to donate.
