What is the Crisis and Resilience Fund?
The UK Government has introduced the Crisis and Resilience Fund to assist those experiencing financial hardship. The Crisis and Resilience Fund is intended to help people on low incomes cope with a sudden, unexpected expense or loss of income, while also helping with longer term financial resilience so future crises are less likely.
Fund Duration
The Crisis and Resilience Fund is provided by the UK Government and will operate from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
Key elements of the fund
Community Coordination
Local voluntary and community sector organisations will work together to offer coordinated support to individuals in need.
Crisis Payments
Emergency financial assistance will be available for those facing immediate financial crises.
Housing Payments
Financial support will be provided to households struggling to meet housing costs, helping to prevent homelessness and promote housing stability.
Resilience Services
Funding will be allocated to local councils and external providers to deliver services that foster financial independence and stability.
Transition from Household Support Fund
The Crisis and Resilience Fund will replace the Household Support Fund when it ends on 31 March 2026. Unlike its predecessor, which focused primarily on cost-of-living support, this new initiative is centred on helping individuals manage financial crises and build resilience for the future.
