All Ofsted registered childcare settings must make arrangements to support children with additional needs.
If a customer is refused childcare due to SEND, they can challenge a childcare provider's failure to make reasonable adjustments.
If your child has SEND and is under 16, they can access tax free childcare.
From September 2025, working parents of children aged nine months and upwards will be entitled to 30 hours free childcare per week right up to their child starting school.
Some early years settings and childminders in Warwickshire have achieved a Warwickshire Inclusion Kitemarking Award. Whilst all early years providers must make reasonable adjustments to be inclusive, the WIncKS award recognises and celebrates high quality SEND provision. Nurseries or childminders need to have a good or outstanding Ofsted rating to get a WIncKS award. In addition, all of these providers have demonstrated excellent inclusive practice in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families.
