Warwickshire’s EBSNA Toolkit
Please note: These resources are designed for school staff and professionals to support children, young people, and families facing barriers to education.
While parents and carers may find the information helpful, they are encouraged to contact their child’s school or a relevant professional for personalised support.
The EBSNA Toolkit (PDF, 6.2 MB) and supporting documents promotes a graduated approach of assessment and intervention for use within schools to support children and young people (CYP) experiencing attendance difficulties.
The guidance provides recommendations that work towards positive outcomes, such as improved wellbeing, increased happiness in school, or increased readiness for learning. This toolkit focuses on:
- Early intervention and prevention
- Collaborative approaches, working with CYP, families, education staff and multi-agency partners
- Bespoke planning and tailored implementation of support, suited to the CYP's needs and circumstances.
These resources will help you to plan the EBSNA support required in your setting and encourage you to adopt a curious and empathic approach to understanding each CYP's personal lived experience and barriers to education.
In the toolkit you will find:
- An overarching guide to all things EBSNA; from what it is to the key theories behind it;
- Warwickshire’s graduated approach;
- Tools to aid assessment, planning and intervention;
- EBSNA and the legal context;
- The relationship between EBSNA, anxiety and neurodivergence.
