EBSNA, the law, school attendance and government guidance

While parents and carers may find the information helpful, they are encouraged to contact their child’s school or a relevant professional for personalised support.
Government guidance recommends a child-centred approach to understanding barriers to learning, improving attendance, and supporting wellbeing in school.
The guidance Working Together to Improve School Attendance introduces a new way of thinking about attendance. It encourages schools to see attendance difficulties as linked to other challenges in a child or young person’s life. Support should focus on addressing these underlying barriers.
