Safe and Active Travel Award

The Safe and Active Travel Workplace award is a free programme designed to promote and support road safety and active travel activities in the workplace across Warwickshire. There are four principle aims to the programme:

  • to increase journeys to site by walking
  • to increase journeys to site by cycling
  • to increase sustainable travel to site (car share, public transport)
  • to reduce journeys to site by cars

The Safe and Active Travel award supports businesses/organisations in completing their workplace travel plan through carefully considered travel activities.

Businesses will appoint a Workplace Champion (larger organisations may want to enlist two champions) who will run the programme in their organisation but will be guided and supported by a lead road safety officer.

Workplace champions

Any adult from within your organisation can be a Safe and Active workplace champion, but it helps if they are committed and passionate about active travel and are happy to lead others by example.

Workplace champions will be our main point of contact within your organisation and will work closely with our Road Safety Education team and road safety engineers.

Once you have identified your workplace champion(s), we will provide free training, support and resources.

Workplace champions will be the first to hear of any new road safety initiatives, be invited to take part in innovative pilot schemes, learn about national road safety campaigns, have the opportunity to meet other Safe and Active champions and much more.
