Cubs

The following are requirements to gain your Road Safety badge.

  • Draw or photograph ten different traffic signs and explain what they mean.
Why not get out and about with other Cubs and find as many signs as you can just within walking distance of your meeting place. You’ll be surprised how easy it is once you start looking!
  • Show how to use the Green Cross Code.
To help you remember the Green Cross Code, make up a short story about you and your friends on your way to school.
  • Tell a leader about the importance of different types of pedestrian crossing and know how to use them safely.
Design a poster for your meeting place for each different type of crossing – don’t forget to write simple instructions about each one!
  • Show that you know how to behave safely as a car passenger.
Write a list of all the things which you should NOT do as a car passenger, then write a similar list for things which make you a good car passenger.
  • Show how to use a public telephone or mobile telephone and know how to make an emergency telephone call.
Write yourself a pocket guide with useful telephone numbers so that, in case of emergency, you know what to do.
  • Make a poster to promote road safety to pedestrians or cyclists.
Why not cut out pictures from magazines and make a collage?
