Warwickshire County Council is notifying residents that Shipston household waste recycling centre (HWRC) is set to close on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 November.
This is to allow for the safe removal of the old Age UK shop portacabin on the site, which has reached the end of its useful life, and the installation of a replacement.
The replacement of the shop portacabin forms part of a wider project to maximise the potential of all Age UK reuse shops based on Warwickshire County Council recycling centre sites.
By making the best use of these spaces the Council can divert more items from landfill, increase opportunities for reuse, and generate vital income to support older people across local communities.
Warwickshire County Council would like to thank residents in advance for their understanding and remind them that their next nearest HWRC is Burton Farm in Stratford.
It is anticipated that Shipston HWRC will open as normal on Thursday 12 November.
Councillor Darren Cheshire, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Environment, Heritage and Culture, said: “We know how appreciated our household waste recycling centres are by our residents and closing one, even for a short amount of time like at Shipston, is never a decision taken lightly. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the temporary closure is unavoidable and I would like to extend my thanks for their patience and understanding.”
