The University of Warwick is the latest partner to support the #Donttakeithome campaign.

The University of Warwick is the latest partner to support the #Donttakeithome campaign, which aims to encourage people to do the right thing by keeping their distance from those outside their household, wearing face coverings, and washing their hands, to ensure they don’t take the Covid-19 virus home.  Let's do the right thing

The campaign #Donttakeithome comes following a consistent trend in data which shows an increase in positive cases in young people aged 20 - 29. This then leads to the risk of them taking the virus home and passing it onto people they live with. Several Warwickshire bloggers and young people have helped to launch the campaign and now student ambassadors from the University of Warwick have joined to tell us their story and explain why they are supporting the #Donttakeithome campaign.

Director of Public Health Warwickshire, Dr Shade Agboola said: “It’s great to have the University student ambassadors on board. We know that many young people are doing the right thing and are taking the right steps to keep themselves, their friends and their families safe and we want to thank them for doing that.

“In addition, I also want to commend the University of Warwick for playing their part by rolling out a mass testing programme for all their students this week. This is a huge undertaking, which not only ensures the safety of the students wanting to return home, but also their families, who I know will be keen to have them home safely for the Christmas period.”

The campaign is being rolled out county-wide and can be supported by the #Donttakeithome. The main messages of which include:

  • Keeping your distance from those you do not live with
  • Wearing a face covering in public places and on public transport
  • Washing your hands regularly, especially when returning home
  • Sticking to the current rules around how many people you can mix with and in which settings
  • Staying at home and isolating with your household and getting a test if you have symptoms
