You should always ask your child’s existing school to keep them on roll until a new school place has been secured for them. As there is no guarantee that any new school will be able to offer your child a place, you should never remove your child from their current school until you have confirmation of a start date at any new school.
It is important that your child does not miss out on learning whilst your application for a new school place is being processed. So, if your child can’t travel to their existing school after the move because it is too far to travel, please ask their school to send them work to do at home while they wait.
