Specialised supported housing commissioning intentions
- Specialised supported housing remains an important part of the local offer for people who need accessible, adapted or purpose-designed accommodation alongside flexible care and support.
- We want to work with existing WAA Framework providers, housing partners and registered housing providers to increase high-quality local accommodation-based support.
- New developments should support people to maximise independence, sustain tenancies, access their local community, build relationships and reduce the risk of placement breakdown.
- Priority gaps include accessible and adapted accommodation, housing for autistic adults, people with mental health needs and people with complex support requirements.
- We want to reduce reliance on out-of-area placements by increasing suitable local options where standard supported living is not appropriate.
- Any new housing with care and support development should align with the WAA Framework, with care and support ordinarily delivered by an existing framework provider.
