Proposed works

These works form part of the Historic Bridge Maintenance Programme.

The works are expected to include:

  • Extensive repair of missing and damaged stonework including masonry replacement and refacing (above and below water level), repointing, scour repairs and carriageway resurfacing.
  • Arch strengthening and repairs to the tie-bars.

These works will maintain the highway structure function for both pedestrians and vehicular traffic which in turn will increase the service life of the structure and reduce future maintenance costs.

Site works have commenced on Monday 2 October 2023 and are due to be completed 7 June 2024.
