What is a JSNA?
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is Warwickshire's shared picture of the health and wellbeing of local people. It brings together data, evidence, local insight and lived experience to help us understand the health needs of our population, the factors that influence health, and where action is needed to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities. The JSNA helps us understand both current and future health challenges, as well as the strengths and assets within our communities.
The JSNA is owned by the Warwickshire Health and Wellbeing Board, a partnership of organisations that work together to improve health and wellbeing across the county. The Board uses the JSNA to understand local health needs and priorities, helping to shape strategies, services and policies that support better health outcomes for Warwickshire residents.
What does JSNA mean?
Joint
The JSNA is developed collaboratively, bringing together knowledge and expertise from local authorities, the NHS, voluntary and community organisations, residents and other partners.
Strategic
It looks beyond immediate health issues to identify the long-term opportunities and challenges that affect the health and wellbeing of Warwickshire's population, helping organisations plan for the future.
Needs
The JSNA explores the health and wellbeing needs of local people, including physical and mental health, lifestyles, wider determinants of health, and the factors that contribute to health inequalities.
Assessment
It is a process of gathering, analysing and interpreting information to build a clear understanding of local health needs, strengths and inequalities. This evidence helps decision-makers target resources and action where they can have the greatest impact.
The JSNA is more than a collection of statistics. It tells the story of health and wellbeing in Warwickshire, helping partners work together to make informed decisions and improve outcomes for residents across the county.
