Executive Director for Children and Young People,
John Coleman

The Children and Young People Directorate’s aim is to create a child friendly county and a safe place for children to grow up and reach their full potential. We work with parents, carers, children and young people, education settings (including schools, colleges and early years providers), communities and other agencies to ensure that children in Warwickshire can be the best that they can be and enabling them to be healthy, safe, happy, skilled and heard.
Children and Families (Service Delivery)
Director (interim), Sharon Shaw
In Warwickshire, we place children and families at the heart of everything we do and our focus is on building strong relationships with families.
We also recognise that children and young people grow up in families, and families are part of communities. We are committed to ensuring a robust local offer is central to our locality-based service delivery model.
Education Services (Service Delivery)
Director, Johnny Kyriacou
Education Services provides strategic leadership, statutory functions and targeted support across early years, schools and post‑16 education in Warwickshire. Working in close partnership with schools, settings and system partners, we focus on improving outcomes, promoting inclusion and ensuring children and young people can access the right provision at the right time.
Our services include SEND and Inclusion (EHC assessment and review, educational psychology and specialist teaching), Access to Education (school admissions, alternative provision, education sufficiency and early years entitlements), School Services and Post‑16 Education (attendance, children missing education, elective home education, music and post‑16 participation), and Early Years and School Effectiveness (early years quality and safeguarding, school improvement, governance, the Virtual School and specialist support services).
Our work is guided by the Warwickshire Education Strategy 2024–2029, which sets out the council’s four priorities of Best Start, SEND and Inclusion, Sufficiency and Admissions, and a Strong System.
