Who is a parent carer?
According to the Children and Families Act 2014, a 'parent carer' is: "A person aged 18 or over who provides or intends to provide care for a disabled child for whom the person has parental responsibility."
If your child under 18 has a disability, you might not see yourself as a parent carer, but recognizing this role is crucial to accessing the support you and your family may need.
