Safe Places are places such libraries and community centres where you can go to get help if you feel upset, scared or angry and/or if you are the victim of a hate crime.
Hate crime is any criminal offence committed against a person that is motivated by hostility or prejudice towards someone because of
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Gender identity
- Individual Characteristics that make someone appear different, for example alternative subculture, physical appearance, style of dress.
A Safe Place will help you contact someone you know to help you, for example, your support worker, family member or carer. They may also call the local police community support officer or relevant support service for help.
