Scheme overview

The works will involve the installation of new three-way traffic signals to support access into the development, being carried out by consortium members Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes, which will see 900 homes built in the area.

Throughout the work various types of traffic management will be used including temporary traffic signals, but to minimise disruption, signals will not be used wherever possible, during peak hours of 7.30am to 9.30am and 3.30pm to 5pm on weekdays. There may also be periods of overnight road closures for required resurfacing works, which will be publicised in advance via the correct channels.

The work will involve creating drainage works, surfacing roads, upgrading the existing street lighting, installation of traffic signals and the introduction of new splitter islands.

There are several phases to the works which are expected to complete in the winter. The first phase will see the contractor, Fitzgeralds Contractors Ltd, mobilised and begin excavation and clearance of the site. Early activities will involve utilities diversions and installation of the drainage.

The scheme is now entering a phase where there is a significant change to the temporary traffic management arrangements. Since the scheme started on site in May 2025, most of the works are being carried out in areas where temporary traffic lights on the highway have had limited requirements.

In respect to the change of traffic management on Banbury Road, the one-way system is expected to commence on Tuesday 26th August 2025, subject to the completion of WCC3 Europa Way works. Please note that this is not a full road closure and live traffic is being maintained at all times on Banbury Road.

The Banbury Road one-way closure from Tuesday 26th August 2025 for approximately 15 weeks will have live traffic running Westbound travelling into Warwick on Banbury Road.

For traffic wanting to travel Eastbound on Banbury Road (travelling away from Warwick), they will have to follow the diversion route. The diversion route is via Gallows Hill and A452 Europa Way. The traffic management plan shows how the one-way system will work on Banbury Road

There will be some minimal and unavoidable disruption, though efforts will be made to keep traffic delays to a minimum.

The county council wants to work with residents and local businesses to understand local issues and to provide reassurances.
