Name of the competition: Community as a Superpower: My superpower for a kinder community. Art Competition for Refugee Week 2025 in Warwickshire
Scope: Warwickshire County Council’s Refugee Week in Warwickshire competition is asking children and young people to imagine a super thing they can do to make their community kinder or more welcoming. This might be a real action, or something imaginative and creative.
This art competition is part of Warwickshire’s celebration of Refugee Week 2025. It invites children and young people to reflect on how they can use their own 'superpowers' to help build a kinder, more welcoming community.
The aim of this competition is to help children explore the idea of community and the important role they play in making others feel welcome, included and valued. Through creative expression, children are encouraged to think about how small, everyday actions – like sharing, playing together, sharing a kind word – can make a difference. This activity also provides an age-appropriate way to introduce the topic of refugees, helping children understand how kindness, empathy are superpowers to build a supportive community. This is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, and foster a sense of welcoming and belonging in the classroom/ community.
Theme: ‘Community as a Superpower’
This year’s Refugee Week theme is ‘Community as a Superpower’.
Refugee Week is a national event that celebrates the contributions, creativity and resilience of people seeking safety. The 2025 theme invites us to think about the ways we can support each other and make our communities stronger through compassion and inclusion.
