Area risk teams are in place across the county, operating from Nuneaton, North Warwickshire, Rugby, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. Each team has a manager, operational officers, firefighters and support staff.
What do the area risk teams do?
The teams aim to reduce risk to the community of Warwickshire. They will achieve this with an action plan to:
-
increase fire safety awareness and education in the community
-
progress home fire safety checks and smoke alarm ownership that will target high-risk groups
-
put in place risk based fire safety enforcement procedures for commercial and high-risk premises
-
develop youth work to reduce the risk of fire and other incidents
-
expand the highly regarded schools’ programme
-
continue to reduce the number of false alarm calls from automatic fire alarm systems.
In their first year, the area risk teams had a positive effect on reducing risk within Warwickshire and increased activities such as home fire safety checks and smoke alarm installation.
