We have a statutory duty to:

  • secure sufficient early years and child care places
  • ensure sufficient primary, secondary and post 16 provision
  • ensure there is suitable and sufficient provision for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

The Department for Education expects local authorities to seek developer contributions towards school places that are created to meet the need arising from housing development.  We have considered the guidance and recommendations published by the Department for Education and documented our approach in assessing the impact of new housing developments on education provision and calculating the appropriate mitigation.
