Coventry and Warwickshire arts organisations and artists are being invited to put forward their ideas to help people at risk of social isolation in the current Covid 19 virus crisis.
Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council have got together with NHS and arts organisations to form a Creative Health Alliance. The Alliance is the body that is behind a new grants scheme, announced this week.
The Alliance is offering grants to arts bodies large and small, or individual artists with ideas for beating loneliness and social isolation, boosting wellbeing at this difficult time.
The fund will allocate individual grants of up to £10,000, and organisers are looking for a range of ideas to reach out to people through the current crisis and beyond.
Shade Agboola, Director of Public Health at Warwickshire County Council said:
“We encourage artists to apply for this funding and to develop ideas together for creative activities that support people who may be particularly susceptible to negative social and emotional impacts of the pandemic. We want to help make people smile and maybe to find a new hobby whilst isolated.
“We are looking for ideas which can be shared online but also to reach those who can’t use the internet. We are particularly looking for schemes which offer a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of residents, and which offer good value for money."
They are inviting expressions of interest now, with a view to distributing the money to organisations early in May. So if you think you or your organisation can get involved, you need to move quickly!
The deadline for expressions of interest is 30 April. Organisations interested in the scheme should contact catherineshuttleworth@warwickshire.gov.uk.
