Traffic management is to be put in place to enable the essential works on the Stanks Island and Birmingham Road improvement scheme to be carried out safely.
From 13th January 2020 until Spring 2020, the following Temporary Traffic Orders will be in place:

These restrictions are required to enable the transformation of Wedgnock roundabout into a signalised T-junction; completing this is fundamental to the scheme; these include an improved flow of traffic out of Warwick Town Centre during peak periods and improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
Traffic modelling has revealed that closing the road southbound is the safest option with the least impact on the network, however the closure will cause congestion during the am and pm rush hours. The council is advising commuters to plan all journeys in advance and allow plenty of time while the work takes place.
Cllr Jeff Clarke, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said:
“The improvements to Stanks Island and the Birmingham Road are essential in ensuring that Warwick has a road system fit for purpose in the future and will deliver real benefits.
“While the work is ongoing, there will be some disruption to traffic. We looked extensively at other options but there was not a suitable alternative. We are therefore doing all we can to minimise disruption to the flow of traffic at peak times.
“The improvements are essential to ensure that can manage future traffic flow and provide better routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
“There will be some inevitable disruption to traffic. We urge commuters to plan their journeys and would like to thank them in advance for their co-operation and understanding.”
