Warwickshire libraries are set to launch a new eBook and eAudiobook service
Warwickshire libraries will be closing its Overdrive eBook and eAudiobook service on 16 December 2019 to make way for their new exciting service Borrowbox.
The move will see books provided from one supplier instead of two as was previously with the Overdrive service. Moving to a single supplier will allow Warwickshire libraries to provide a wider range of quality authors and titles to its customers all from one platform.
The new service Borrowbox has proved to be extremely popular with Warwickshire library service users since its launch in February. They are continuously extending their range of exclusive authors and titles and their eAudiobook issues already outstrip those of Overdrive and the eBook issues are significantly increasing each month.
Borrowbox is “your library in one app” and it looks to transform the way people use their local library. The app allows users to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks for free from their library and is available across most digital devices, including the iPad and Kindle Fire. Borrowbox will allow users to access their local library whenever and wherever they are.
The new service will be working closely with Warwickshire libraries to ensure the most popular Overdrive titles are transferred across to their site. Users who have downloaded a title from the Overdrive site before December 16 will still be able to read it until it expires, the normal loan period will still apply. However, after December 16 Overdrive will not be available for downloads, renews or title requests. Any outstanding holds on Overdrive will be cancelled after December 16.
For titles that have been transferred users can request them from the new Borrowbox eBook & eAudiobook site at: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/ebooks
If users have not already done so, former Overdrive users can sign up to Borrowbox on the Warwickshire libraries’ website: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries
