Warwickshire CC have introduced the above Experimental Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to restrict vehicular access to Caroline Close at school times.

Warwickshire County Council intends to make an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order. The effect of which will be to close Caroline Close, for its entire length of 137m, to all vehicular traffic between Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:15 – 9:15am and 2:30 – 3:45pm, during School Term Time (following Warwickshire Term Dates).

This Scheme is being caried out by way of an experimental order to allow for a full assessment to be carried out for the Scheme of ‘School Streets’ – a central government directive. Warwickshire County Council will trial Chetwynd Junior School as their second scheme of a School Street school, to determine the positive effects of promoting Active Travel, to reduce parking and traffic congestion in and around Caroline Close during school drop off and pick up times. The closure is expected to have a positive impact on air quality and assist in the avoidance of danger to persons or traffic around the school gates.

The experimental order will last for up to 18 months.

During the experimental order, a consultation will be carried out with relevant stakeholders, businesses, and the public and statutory consultees to ascertain the effectiveness or otherwise of the experimental order. Consideration will then be given to making a Traffic Regulation Order to continue the prohibition of motor vehicles indefinitely.
