Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are benefiting from a new Specialist Resourced Provision at Tysoe C of E Primary School in south Warwickshire.

Since opening in April 2026, The Grove has been providing tailored support to children with communication and interaction needs, including autism and speech, language and communication needs. The provision aims to help children learn, build confidence and take part confidently in school life.

The Grove has quickly become an integral part of the school, combining specialist support with opportunities for children to learn and interact alongside their peers in mainstream classrooms where appropriate. This inclusive approach reflects the school’s values and commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and able to reach their full potential.

Specialist Resourced Provisions such as The Grove enable children to benefit from targeted support close to home, helping them remain part of their local community and maintain important friendships and peer relationships.

The Grove offers up to 10 places for children from Year 1 to Year 6. Pupils join through a staggered approach so that each child’s transition can be carefully planned around their individual strengths, needs and readiness.

Led by experienced specialist staff, the provision offers smaller group learning, tailored resources and a nurturing environment where children can develop their confidence and independence. Each child’s programme is tailored to their individual needs and guided by their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with a strong focus on developing communication and interaction skills.

Councillor Wayne Briggs, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Education, said:

“It is wonderful to see The Grove now firmly established at Tysoe C of E Primary School and the positive difference it is making to children and their families.

“We want children with SEND to have access to high-quality education where they feel supported, included and able to develop their confidence and independence. The Grove is a great example of how specialist provision within a mainstream school can help us achieve this.”

Ms Paige Allister, Headteacher at Tysoe C of E Primary School, said:

“Since opening The Grove in April, we have been incredibly proud to see it become such an important part of our school community.

“Our focus is on getting to know each child and providing the right balance of specialist support and opportunities to take part in wider school life. We are already seeing children grow in confidence, develop their independence and build a real sense of belonging.

“Working closely with families is also central to our approach. We want every child who comes to The Grove to feel understood, valued and supported, and their families to feel involved and empowered every step of the way.”

Places at The Grove are agreed through Warwickshire County Council’s High Needs Provision Panel. Children attending a Specialist Resourced Provision will have an EHCP, with The Grove specifically supporting children with communication and interaction needs.
