More than 1,000 creative entries from across the county have helped turn a love of reading into works of art, as Warwickshire Libraries announce the winners of their 2026 Bookmark Competition.
The annual competition invited residents of all ages to design a bookmark inspired by reading, imagination and creativity. Entries poured in from across Warwickshire, with participants competing in four categories:
-
8 years and under
-
9-17 years
-
Adults (18+)
-
Warwickshire County Council staff
With over 1,000 entries received, judges faced the difficult task of selecting just two winners from each category. The winning designs stood out for their originality, creativity and artistic talent, showcasing the imagination and passion for reading that exists across Warwickshire's communities.
Each winner received a special prize bundle including National Book Tokens and other library-themed goodies in recognition of their achievement.
To be approved: Councillor Michael Bannister, Warwickshire County Council's Portfolio Holder for Resources and Internal Affairs, said:
"The response to this year's competition has been absolutely fantastic. Receiving more than 1,000 entries demonstrates just how much creativity and enthusiasm there is across Warwickshire.
"The quality of the designs was exceptional, and choosing the winners was no easy task. I would like to thank everyone who took part and congratulate our winners on their outstanding designs. Competitions like this are a wonderful way to celebrate reading, creativity and the important role our libraries play at the heart of local communities."
The winning bookmarks have been professionally printed and are available free of charge at all Warwickshire County Council-managed libraries while stocks last.
Residents are encouraged to visit their local library, pick up a winning bookmark and discover the inspiring creativity of fellow Warwickshire residents.
Warwickshire's libraries offer far more than books, providing welcoming spaces where people can learn, connect, create and explore new opportunities throughout their lives. Initiatives such as the Bookmark Competition help bring communities together, encourage creativity and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
By celebrating local talent, supporting creativity and creating opportunities for residents of all ages to engage with their libraries, Warwickshire County Council is helping to make Warwickshire a wonderful place to live, work and enjoy life.
