Foreign direct investment

Coventry & Warwickshire continues to be one of the UK's leading destinations for international investment, bringing new jobs, business growth and opportunities for local communities across the region.

New figures from Invest Coventry & Warwickshire show that overseas investment into Coventry and Warwickshire remained strong during the 2025/26 financial year, despite a decline in foreign direct investment (FDI) across the UK.

The latest data reveals that the area secured 47 foreign direct investment projects, up from 43 the previous year. These investments created 1,726 new jobs and safeguarded a further 870 existing jobs, helping to support local employment and economic growth.

Foreign direct investment refers to businesses with at least 10 per cent overseas ownership choosing to establish, expand or invest in the area.

The figures underline the region's appeal to global businesses, with key sectors including automotive and future mobility, video games and software, and the visitor economy accounting for almost half of all investment projects.

Over the last 12 years, Coventry and Warwickshire has attracted 537 foreign direct investment projects, creating or safeguarding more than 30,800 jobs, cementing its position as one of the UK's leading locations for international investment and innovation.

Recent investments have benefited communities across Warwickshire and Coventry, including manufacturing and technology businesses expanding in Leamington Spa, Coleshill, Nuneaton and at MIRA Technology Park, alongside investment in local office space and hotels.

Councillor Rob Howard, Portfolio Holder for Economy and Rural Development at Warwickshire County Council, said:

“It is great to see the city and county performing so well in terms of investment from overseas, particularly compared to the national picture. This area continues to have a strong clustering of global businesses, the right talent, a strong visitor economy offer for both business and leisure tourism, and the commercial property for businesses to succeed. With major local development sites like the Coventry & Warwick Investment Zone and MIRA South Site, and leading local business support programmes, we are ready to welcome further investment and expansion in the challenging year ahead”.

National comparisons show Coventry & Warwickshire continues to outperform many parts of the country in attracting international investment relative to its population, highlighting the area's strength as a destination for global businesses looking to establish or grow their UK operations.
