Warwickshire County Council’s Heritage and Culture team brings three days of Halloween activities to the historic venue St John’s House in Warwick this October half term.

From Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 October, the rooms of St John’s House will be transformed for an immersive family trail based on the traditional tale of Sleeping Beauty, with a darker Halloween twist waiting in the castle woods.
Alongside the haunted house walkthrough and children’s trail, ticketed children can make slime and Halloween crafts. Younger visitors can also enjoy messy potion play and Halloween playdough, while hot drinks and snacks will be available from an onsite coffee van. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to dress up.
The family event runs from 10am to 5pm each day. The experience lasts around 75 to 90 minutes and is suitable for children accompanied by an adult. Tickets cost £12 for children and £6 for adults, plus a booking fee, while children under two can attend free. All activities will take place indoors or undercover.
There will also be an evening event for older audiences. Behind the Door Productions will present An Evening of Ghost Stories on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, with performer Toby Burchell bringing two classic tales by Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to life in a candlelit setting. The performance is recommended for adults and children aged 12 and over, with tickets costing £18 plus a booking fee.

Elsewhere in Warwick, Market Hall Museum will offer a free family trail from Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October. The museum will stay open until 8pm on Friday 30 October for Warwick’s Twilight Market, and visitors throughout the week can guess the weight of a pumpkin and browse Halloween gifts and sweet treats in the café. Entry is free.
