A shoal of colourful squid has landed across Warwickshire with one mission: helping students and young people to save money!
Warwickshire County Council has launched its new ‘Save a few squid while you study’ campaign, encouraging young people to make the most of affordable bus travel and keep more cash in their pockets throughout the academic year.
The campaign brings a cast of playful ‘squid’ characters into the real world. By placing these bold and recognisable characters into everyday student situations and well-known Warwickshire destinations, the campaign delivers a highly relevant and engaging message to the county's younger residents.
The initiative aims to highlight bus travel as an affordable, convenient, and flexible option for getting to college, university, work, and leisure destinations. By taking advantage of a range of student and young person ticket options, young people can significantly cut their travel costs, leaving them with "a few extra squid" to spend on the things they love. From food and fitness to shopping, entertainment, and socialising, the campaign connects affordable travel directly with the experiences that matter most.
Councillor Stephen Shaw, Warwickshire County Council's Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning, speaking on behalf of Warwickshire Buses – Warwickshire's Strategic Partnership for Buses - said:

The ‘Save a few squid’ campaign is a fun, creative way to remind our younger residents that bus travel is not only a more sustainable choice, but a highly affordable one.
