Please note that the Heritage Open Days event at Chesterton Windmill, planned for 19 and 20 September, has been cancelled.
Heritage & Culture Warwickshire, Chesterton Parish Council and the Midlands Mills Group regret to announce that the planned Heritage Open Days event at Chesterton Windmill, scheduled for Saturday 19 September and Sunday 20 September, has been cancelled.
The cancellation is due to the contractor responsible for installing the new access stairs withdrawing at short notice. Despite exploring alternative options, we have been unable to find a solution that would enable safe public access to the windmill in time for the event.
All partners involved are extremely disappointed that the cancellation has had to be made at short notice, particularly given the significant public interest in visiting the windmill during Heritage Open Days. However, visitor safety remains the priority, and without completed access arrangements the event cannot proceed as planned.
Heritage & Culture Warwickshire, Chesterton Parish Council and the Midlands Mills Group would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask members of the public not to travel to Chesterton Windmill for the event this weekend. Information about future opportunities to visit the windmill will be shared as soon as it becomes available.
