Warwickshire County Council has confirmed that all of its recycling centres will be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

The larger recycling centres will also be open on Bank Holiday Monday.

Cherry Orchard, Shipston, Stockton and Wellesbourne will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday due to planning restrictions.

All but one of the sites that will be open on Bank Holiday Monday require booking before attending. The sites that will be open are:

  • Hunters Lane, Rugby – Booking required 7 days a week

  • Princes Drive, Leamington Spa – Booking required Saturday, Sunday and BH Monday

  • Lower House Farm, North Warwickshire – Booking required Saturday, Sunday and BH Monday

  • Judkins, Nuneaton – Booking required Saturday, Sunday and BH Monday

  • Burton Farm, Stratford – Booking not required

Bookings can be made via www.warwickshire.gov.uk/hwrc

The Warwickshire recycling centres offer an array of opportunities to reuse and recycle your unwanted items. Preloved items for reuse can be donated to be resold for the benefit of local charities. No recycling centre in Warwickshire is currently accepting fridges, freezers or fridge freezers, due to a national issue with recycling capacity.

Cllr Darren Cheshire, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Environment, Heritage and Culture, said: “Many of us will use the opportunity of a bank holiday weekend to have a good sort out in the house or garden. As a result, we are expecting busy sites this weekend.

“Following our recent customer engagement, we have reintroduced the booking system and the bank holiday will be when that shows its real value.  We urge customers to use the system and keep things running smoothly."
