Warwickshire County Council is pleased to announce that tendering bids have been accepted to support new community transport projects across North and South Warwickshire.

The transport schemes have been designed to support residents within Warwickshire to be able to travel and access their local services and amenities, particularly to those areas where transport and access issues present more of a challenge. There will be three services available as part of the project.

A Minibus dial-a-ride scheme will operate from Coleshill, Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm. The service will support commuters travelling to work, GP/Hospital visits, shopping and leisure. Users will be required to register to use the minibus and journeys will be available for booking via a call centre.

An off peak timetabled taxi will also be available for booking. Based within the Atherstone district there will be a simple fare structure for journeys. This service will be unavailable for those commuting to work as the operator is required to run school services during these hours.

There will also be enhancements made to the UBUS service in Stratford. From June 2020 the service will be looking to extend working hours and providing an additional vehicle.

Across all these schemes, concessionary passes will be accepted where current public transport does not provide the journey.

Councillor Jeff Clarke, portfolio holder for transport and planning said: “I was delighted to see these opportunities go out to tender, this presents as an imaginative initiative to support residents access to facilities and services, as well as opportunities to access work, and I look forward to seeing the outcome of this process”.
