Residents, community groups and local organisations in Atherstone are being invited to take part in a community energy workshop...
...exploring practical ways to save energy, cut bills and take local action.
The workshop will focus on the question: “How do we save energy, cut bills and take action for Atherstone?” It will bring people together to share ideas, understand local priorities and develop practical, fundable solutions that could help residents and community organisations reduce energy costs and build greater energy resilience.
The event will take place in two parts. The first session is an online webinar on Wednesday 16 September, 4pm to 5.30pm, which will help participants understand local priorities and start shaping ideas. This will be followed by an in-person workshop at St Benedicts RC Church, 7 Owen Street, Atherstone, on Wednesday 23 September, 9.30am to 3.30pm, where participants will work together to develop solutions, collaborate locally and explore potential funding opportunities.
Cllr Darren Cheshire, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Environment, Heritage and Culture said:
“Rising energy costs are a real concern for many people, particularly in rural areas where homes can be more expensive to heat. This event is a great opportunity for residents, community groups and experts to come together to focus on practical ideas that could make a genuine difference locally and I’d encourage anyone interested to come along and join in.”
The workshop is being run in partnership with Atherstone Town Council and the University of Gloucestershire, with support from Warwickshire County Council. It forms part of wider work to help Warwickshire communities take practical action on energy use, costs and local energy opportunities.
People do not need to have a fully formed idea or pre-existing knowledge to take part. The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in helping Atherstone explore practical ways to reduce energy costs, support local priorities and turn ideas into achievable community projects.
