Southam Town Council, in partnership with Carers Trust Heart of England and Warwickshire County Council, is inviting young carers in the Southam area to join the upcoming drop-in sessions.
The upcoming autumn and winter drop-in sessions follow a highly successful 'Picnic in the Park' event earlier this month.
The recent family picnic, held on Tuesday, 11 August at Southam Community Centre, was exceptionally well-attended.
Young carers and their families enjoyed a well-deserved afternoon of food, games, and family fun, providing a valuable opportunity to take a break from their daily caring responsibilities.
The event was attended by the Chair of Warwickshire County Council, Cllr Dale Keeling, alongside Cllr Anne-Marie Sonko, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Social Care and Health.
Reflecting on the event and the ongoing programme, Cllr Anne-Marie Sonko, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health, said:
“It was wonderful to see so many young carers and their families enjoying themselves at the Southam Picnic in the Park. These young people take on incredible responsibilities at home, and it is absolutely vital that they have dedicated spaces where they can relax, make friends, and simply have fun.
“The Southam drop-in groups, delivered alongside Carers Trust Heart of England, provide essential support and a much-needed break. I strongly encourage any young carer in the area to come along and join the fantastic sessions planned for the rest of the year.”
The Southam Young Carers Drop-In Groups will continue to run throughout the remainder of 2026.
Each session is designed to give young carers a safe, supportive environment to unwind and socialize with peers who understand their experiences.
