Warwickshire Libraries is encouraging children and families to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge 2026: Read to the Beat, with thousands already taking part and plenty of time left to join the fun.

Inspired by music, rhythm and creativity, this year's challenge invites children to discover a world of stories while collecting rewards and celebrating their reading achievements throughout the summer.

Already, 2,700 children in Warwickshire have signed up and more than 200 have completed the challenge, but there is still time for new participants to get involved.

Councillor Mike Bannister, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Resources & Internal Affairs said:

"It's fantastic to see so many children across Warwickshire taking part in this year's Summer Reading Challenge. Reading for pleasure helps build confidence, imagination and lifelong learning skills, and the challenge is a fun way to keep children engaged with books over the summer holidays.

“With plenty of time still to join, I'd encourage families to visit their local library, get involved and discover the wonderful range of books and activities on offer. And with a chance to win a book token for those who complete the challenge by 24 August, there's even more incentive to keep reading."

Whether children enjoy picture books, adventures, fact books or graphic novels, Warwickshire Libraries offers something for every reader.

Families can visit their local Warwickshire Library to sign up and start their reading journey today.

Children can also enjoy a range of summer holiday activities and events taking place across the county. Find out more and book events via: Summer Holiday Events for Children | Eventbrite
