We want to know if what we are planning is important to you. Our vibrant economy must be sustained, traditional sources of council funding are diminishing and in July 2019, we declared a climate change emergency.
Climate change will form a big part of Warwickshire County Council's (WCC) five-year plan and we want to hear the views of the community. Therefore, we are holding a number of roadshows in October which are focused on the Council Plan 2025 (see the list of confirmed roadshows below).
As part of this commitment to climate change and to work towards a carbon neutral action plan, WCC’s use of pure green electricity for our operations for three years means that we are able to report zero emissions of carbon
dioxide.
In addition, the Warwickshire Pension Fund recognises that environmental factors can influence long term investment performance and the ability to achieve long term sustainable returns. The pension fund believes in collective engagement and is a member of the Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF), through which it collectively exercises a voice across a range of corporate governance issues including climate change.
Councillor Heather Timms, WCC Portfolio Holder for Environment and Heritage & Culture said:
“In Warwickshire we are committed to tackling climate change. We have already taken steps to achieve this however we are still working towards a properly costed plan, with targets for the short, medium and long term.
I would therefore like to encourage as many of you as possible to come along to one of our October roadshows to share your views on what we should be doing to tackle climate change.”
