On Friday 15th March over 1,000 young singers will fill the Butterworth Hall at the University of Warwick Arts Centre with the sound of music as they take part in ‘Sounds Spectacular’; a Singing Sensation presented by the Warwickshire Music Education Trust.

Children and young people aged 5 – 15 from schools across Warwickshire will take part in a series of vocal workshops throughout the day led by singing specialists from Warwickshire Music, Ex Cathedra and the University of Warwick’s music department.

A gala concert in the evening will feature a range of charismatic choirs reflecting the wonderful diversity of singing within Warwickshire with children’s choirs, school choirs, community choirs and specialist choirs all represented.

The gala concert will also feature special guests Semi-Toned.

Semi-Toned are Exeter University’s award winning all-male A Cappella group, who sprang to national prominence in 2016 as winners of The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain. Now an international phenomenon, they perform in the US and the UK and are renowned for their five-star shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Cllr Colin Hayfield, Portfolio Holder for Education & Learning, said: “This is set to be a truly fantastic musical event in Warwickshire. We are very proud of Warwickshire Music’s centre and county groups, which provide a comprehensive range of services for young people; from music theatre to early music groups. I hope as many residents as possible can attend and help raise money for this very worthy cause.”

Clare Sawdon JP, Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire and chair of the Warwickshire Music Education Trust will host the event and said:

“I am really looking forward to hosting what will be a wonderful celebration of singing and music and, most importantly, supporting an event that is all about children and young people.”
